DOC Bolgher Tastings

Many guests at Podere Conca on the occasion of the day of celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the DOC Bolgheri
There are two really effective ways to understand a winery: knowing who is its soul and visiting it. These two ways are certainly linked to tasting wines, better if from various vintages, to understand and evaluate their evolution because the time spent in the bottle makes the wines increasingly more pleasant and balanced (obviously within the limits of the type of wine being tasted).
For this reason, taking advantage of the presence in Bolgheri of many good journalists on the occasion of the celebrations for the twenty-fifth anniversary of the DOC, we invited them to come and visit us to taste our production from 2015, the first year of work of our winery, to today. Few vintages to be able to define it as a vertical, but enough to understand the work we are doing and to have from them, who know all our colleagues and many wines from all over the world, an opinion on what we are doing. We have thus presented 2015-2016-2017 of the Bolgheri Rosso Agapanto and 2016-2017-2018 of the IGT Elleboro.
After the meeting in the theater in Bolgheri where some of the historic producers of the Denomination told us where they come from and where they want to go with their work, we accompanied some journalists to Podere Conca, where the tasting was ready.
At the end of the technical tasting, the bottles were brought to the table to accompany the excellent menu that our home chef Simonetta cooked with her usual mastery. Because wine, in addition to being a little cold even if technically indisputable, should be tasted paired with food because that is where it is intended!
In addition to the guests who accepted the invitation to lunch, we were proud to host other good journalists during the afternoon, repeating the two mini verticals and collecting their advice and suggestions as well as their many positive observations (thank goodness!).
We also visited the vineyard next to our house where we produce our Cabernet Franc for Bolgheri Superiore, which we have been working on since the 2018 harvest. It was great fun to taste the grapes with our winemaker Laura Zuddas who guided us through the taste and texture of the grapes, understanding the degree of ripeness and potential of the grapes from our vineyard. A great harvest is expected and this made us happier than anything else.
Our vineyard is really beautiful, we must say it without false modesty, we have invested a lot in it not only in economic terms, but also and above all technical and we are happy that the results are visible.
It's a shame that the limited time didn't allow us to go and see the vineyard in the Le Ferruggini area because things are going really well there too. We will keep you informed about the 2019 harvest, but the best way is, in fact, to come and visit us, we are always open for visits and to organize tastings.
