Tuscan IGP Oil is born in 2022 Bolgheri , a new territorial denomination.
Companies belonging to the can boast of it DOC Bolgheri Consortium i also registered at Consortium for the Protection of Tuscan IGP Oil .
A collaboration therefore between the two Consortia with the mission of protecting, enhancing and guaranteeing the characterization of the olive production of the Bolgheri area, an area historically dedicated to excellence and respect for nature, where quality is a constant pursuit and production is guaranteed by the strict controls of the Consortium.
With the name “Bolgheri” the communication of the concepts of seriousness and “quality assurance” that have accompanied DOC Bolgheri wines around the world for years is also extended to oil.
Organic EVO oil
Furthermore, in our company the management of the olive groves respects the strict rules of organic farming, with treatments limited to the spraying of kaolin and pheromone traps for the olive fly.
The harvest is done by hand and great attention is paid to the integrity and stage of ripeness of the olives, which are then cold pressed. During production, only washing, decanting and centrifugation processes are permitted.
For an oil to be defined as Extra Virgin Olive Oil, its acidity, which is tested every year by the Tuscan IGP Consortium, must be less than 0.8%, but ours is always much lower.
The result is a green oil with golden hues of remarkable aromatic intensity, which has a fruity aroma and a light note of artichoke.
In conjunction with the change in denomination, we have also decided to give our oil a new label.
Why a new label?
Oil was our first love. It has been grown at Podere Conca for many years and some of our olive trees are over a hundred years old.
Silvia's mother began producing and selling oil with her first label, the one our customers have come to know over the years, way back in 1986.
We have continued to increase the rows of olive trees which are now 800, of the Leccino, Frantoio and Moraiolo varieties.
However, in the last 7 years many things have happened: the company “Podere Conca Bolgheri” was born, we planted vineyards and started producing wines, first Agapanthus and Hellebore , then Apisthos And 196.
We have thus chosen a very precise line for the 4 wine labels, both from a conceptual point of view (names and images of flowers) and from a graphic one, thanks to the choice of a particular and recognisable font.
At this point, when placed next to wine labels, the old oil label seemed to belong to a different “family”.
It was time to create a new one!
We then commissioned the young illustrator Francesca Saints who had already designed the 196 label, to also think about the oil label.
The input was to keep the image of the Podere, to create a link with the previous label already known by customers, and to also add the mignola, the olive flower in order to also include the oil in the series of “flowered” labels.
So, as she had already done for the 196 label, Francesca, with her delicate hand and her imagination, has also recreated a corner for our oil. of the Tuscan landscape that surrounds us and that we love so much.
