Return to Podere Conca

Tastings of the red Agapanto DOC Bolgheri, the white Elleboro IGT Toscana and the organic extra virgin olive oil begin again at Podere Conca.

We are finally out of lockdown, hopefully forever.

Life slowly and timidly resumes and we feel a little dazed, almost as if we were recovering from a strange illness.

We all have a great desire to resume enjoying the wonders of nature in its most glorious moment, a desire for sun and fragrant air.

For my part, as soon as the evolution of the situation in the Milanese Hospital where I work as Head of Resuscitation made it possible, I jumped in the car to reach Bolgheri in a state of great trepidation and anticipation.

The moment I have long dreamed of has finally arrived within the walls of the Intensive Care Unit during the hardest moments of the long and uninterrupted battle against the virus: the gate to the garden at home opened and I found myself in front of Podere Conca wrapped in a white cloud of jasmine in full bloom.

I immediately took a tour of reconnaissance and emotional reunion with the vines and olive trees. The Cabernet Franc has just entered the fruit setting phase, where the small grapes, the size of peppercorns, are formed. The leaves are already creating a bright green wall, while between the rows the red-flowered clover sways in the wind.

At sunset I finally sat down on the jasmine-covered porch with an aperitif of Tuscan bread, cheese and a cool glass of our new white wine Elleboro 2019. I was enchanted by its scent and I noticed with pleasure that the rainy spring of last year meant that Elleboro 2019 is fresh, but also sunny and full on the palate.

Heaven!

Well, I hope with this short story I have made you want to enjoy in person these simple, intense, immense pleasures of life as drink a good glass of white wine while admiring a sunset.

If I have succeeded in my intent, I will wait for you at Podere Conca for a tasting with a visit to the vineyards guided by our agronomist Linda Franceschi.

We will let you taste ours Hellebore 2019, to immerse you in summer, and our Agapanto 2018, to make you dream of a barbecue with friends, accompanied by a bruschetta with oil from our olives.

The tasting will be organized outdoors, with all the anti COVID 19 precautions that the moment requires and to which, as a doctor, I am particularly attentive.
